ARCHITECT

 

 Harrison McCampbell has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee (1972) and is a registered Architect in the State of Tennessee. Upon graduation from college, Mr. McCampbell worked for architecture firms in Tennessee and Texas for five years.  Since 1977, however, he has been involved with the roofing industry, growing in knowledge and experience with the vastly-expanding field of roofing.  At the same time, he has been working with architects to help bridge the gap between the fields of architecture and roofing.  His work as a roofing and waterproofing consultant has involved him in field investigations, report and specification writing, code interpretation and compliance, and contract administration.  He has also been involved in more than one hundred legal cases as an expert witness in the field of construction litigation.  He had lived and worked in New York and California before establishing his business in Tennessee.

Mr. McCampbell has attended various seminars, symposiums, and workshops throughout his years in the roofing industry.  He has been a guest lecturer on roofing for various clients, including the University of Tennessee School of Architecture, and a staff member since 1989 for the Roofing Industry Educational Institute.  He has been a guest speaker for the American Institute of Architects, Construction Specifications Institute, American Society of Home Inspectors, Earl Swensson & Associates, Architects, Thomas Miller and Partners, Architects, GAF Corporation, Tennessee Association of Roofing Contractors, and the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel. 

Mr. McCampbell has served as an expert witness in numerous cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  He is also listed with Idex.com as an expert witness.

 He is the author of a book, entitled Problems in Roofing Design, published by Butterworth-Heinemann Publishers in December 1991, and is a co-author of Facilities Engineering Management Handbook, published by McGraw-Hill in December 2001.  He has also written for professional and trade publications such as the American Institute of Architects’ Small Projects Forum Journal, Roof Consultants Institute’s Interface,Architecture, Progressive ArchitectureSun/Coast Architect/Builder, Design-Build West,Western Roofing, Journal Of Light Construction, and Fine Homebuilding.

 He was also a co-author of The RCI Manual of Practice, and was appointed to the Southern Building Code Congress International’s Roofing Ad Hoc Committee for the 2000 International Building Code.  In the past, he had received the U. S. Department of State’s Top Secret Clearance for Embassy work in Damascus, Syria.
